So, we are now well into the summer months in Qatar, and with most of us sticking around due to Covid-19, we have to just accept the fact that its boiling degrees Celsius. With these high temperatures, comes the need to cool off, and if you’re anything like us, ice-lollies are just the way to do this.
Ice-lollies are such an important part of summer. They take us back to childhood memories of long summer months cooling off wherever we may be.
BUT, and this is a big BUT….they’re not the healthiest thing around. They’re just so FULL of refined, added sugar, colours and preservatives that giving them to our children just feels so wrong. Add to that, having sugar-induced hyperactive children around is the last thing we need right now. But what other option do we have, right?
We’ve come up with an AMAZING alternative, especially thought up for all our Biokids family…and we can’t believe we didn’t think of these earlier.
Enter the SUPER SIMPLE SUMMERTIME SNACK….The WATERMELON ICELOLLY.
Watermelons are amazingly sweet this time of year and so make the perfect ice-lolly substitute. Goodness, doesn’t nature just give us exactly what we need, when we need it?
What makes these even more amazing is that there is almost nothing to them – they’ll take almost no time from busy parents. We’re not going to call this a recipe, but follow the simple steps below and walaaaaa, you have a sugar-free, refreshing, super sweet ice-lolly that the whole family can enjoy.
- Cut the watermelon into triangle slices.
- Using a knife, make a small incision into the skin.
- Insert a wooden lolly stick into the incision.
- Pop into the freezer and done. That's it.
Enjoy them once they've frozen. Perfect for the whole family.

These also make a perfect snack for little ones who are teething. The cold watermelon soothes their gums. Just make sure to remove the seeds.
